LAGOS – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains, Chief Olabode George, and Mazi Sam Obuabunwa, have urged Nigerian Christians to embrace politics, stressing that politics is so important that it should not be left to unbelievers.
Speaking at the 60th birthday celebration of fellow PDP chieftain, Rev. Dr. John Kome, the duo maintained that politics, which deals with the life of the whole Nigerian people, should not be left for unrighteous people and charlatans.
The event, which attracted top politicians and clerics, was held at Rev. Kome’s Church, God’s Kingdom Christian Church (aka CKCC), at Ojodu, Abiodun Road, Berger, By Star Diamond International School, Ojodu, Berger, Lagos, penultimate Sunday. Mazi Ohuabunwa, a presidential aspirant, said that Christians should do away with the notion that politics is a dirty game, stressing that even if it is dirty, a Christian is in a position to refine it with the power of God and righteousness.
Quoting from the Bible, Mazi Ohuabunwa maintained that when the righteous is in power, the people will rejoice because of the enthronement of righteousness in politics and governance.
Chief George spoke against tribalism and religious bigotry, stressing that both the Bible and the Quran are the same to the extent that the Quran is the Old Testament, and that the only difference between the two religions is the New Testament which is the era of Jesus Christ.
He stressed the need for unity among Nigerians, while urging the citizens to do away with sectionalism as “we are the same. The only difference is the New Testament because we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Dr Kome, who used the opportunity provided by the event to declare for his House of Representatives aspiration, having tried his hand on a Senate seat for Lagos East once, as well as State House of Assembly seat.
He maintained that he won in all the elections he took part in but was rigged out by the ruling party in the state.
He, however, stated that this challenge would not stop him as he believed that his going into politics was directed by the Lord.
Kome also told his listeners how as a successful businessman, he introduced network marketing and helped to enrich thousands of Nigeria through the GNLD marketing, a venture that has taken him to several countries of the world.
Dr Kome also made a public presentation of his book on ‘Depression In Women’, which was reviewed by Pastor Mrs Roli Bode George, who also wrote the Introduction..
A major fall-out of the event was the presentation of awards to seven eminent Nigerians, including Chief Olabode George (Advocate for Good Governance in Nigeria); Mazi Mao Ohuabunwa (Advocate for a New Nigeria); Pastor (Mrs) Roli Bode George (Advocate for a Drug Free Nigeria); Bishop David Esosa Ize-Iyamu, former Presidential candidate (Advocate For Righteous Leadership); and Pastor Engr. Hope Kome (Advocate for Women Empowerment); Apostle Olawole Joseph Oladiyun (Advocate and Champion for Soul Winning) and Mr. Jerry Brassfield, Founder, Neolife International (Advocate of Health and Wealth in Nigeria).
