A Ghanaian site engineer working in Dubai has publicly complained about the quality of food provided to workers at his workplace, saying he has resorted to buying Ghanaian food outside due to what he described as unpalatable meals.

In a video, the engineer displayed the food served at his workplace, expressing frustration over its quality. “See the nonsense food we’re being served here in Dubai to eat as a site engineer. I have to go outside to buy Ghanaian food because I can’t eat this,” he said.

The video adds to a recurring set of grievances shared by some Ghanaian and African migrant workers in the Gulf region regarding food quality, working conditions, and cultural mismatches in catering provided at labour-intensive job sites, particularly in construction and engineering sectors that employ large numbers of foreign workers.
