“Messi Won’t Lift The 2026 World Cup”- VeryDarkMan Stakes N20 Million On Argentina’s Final Match Against Spain

  • Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), made headlines with a bet involving his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
  • The bet centers on Argentina’s chances of winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
  • The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sparked reactions online after revealing a high-stakes bet he made with his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over Argentina’s chances of winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2026 tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is set to conclude on Sunday, July 19, 2026, with defending champions Argentina facing Spain in the final.

Ahead of the highly anticipated showdown, VDM took to his Instagram Story on Friday, July 17, to disclose the wager between him and Adeyanju. According to him, the lawyer had repeatedly reached out to discuss Lionel Messi’s chances of securing another World Cup title, prompting him to turn their debate into a formal challenge.

Making his stance known, VeryDarkMan insisted that he does not believe Messi and Argentina will emerge victorious in the final. He offered to pay Adeyanju N20 million if Argentina lifts the trophy, while Adeyanju would pay him the same amount if the team fails to win.

VDM wrote:

“@adeyanjudeji stop calling me about Lionel Messi, HE WILL NOT LIFT THE WORLD CUP. If he does, I will give you N20 million naira, and if he doesn’t, you will give me N20 million naira. (DON’T CALL MY PHONE AGAIN UNTIL AFTER THE FINAL PLEASEEEEE).”

However, Adeyanju responded to the challenge with a condition of his own. In a post shared on his Facebook page, the lawyer said he was willing to take the bet but only if VDM agreed to deactivate his Instagram and Facebook accounts should Messi and Argentina win the tournament.

Adeyanju wrote:

“VDM, I will not do that kind of bet with you. If you want us to bet over Argentina, you will have to agree to delete your Instagram and Facebook accounts if my GOAT lifts the WC, and I agree to send you N20m if we lose the game.”

The exchange between both personalities has since generated conversations among football fans, with many eagerly awaiting the outcome of the final and the fate of their unusual wager.
