Mojtaba Khamenei tells Hezbollah ending Israeli attacks on Lebanon was key condition in Tehran’s US MoU

Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei has told Lebanon’s Hezbollah that Tehran made ending Israeli attacks on Lebanon a key condition in its memorandum of understanding with the United States.

In a message issued on Sunday, Khamenei said Iran also made preserving Lebanon’s territorial integrity a condition for concluding the memorandum with Washington, which was signed electronically last month. He added that US President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire on 8 July.

Khamenei also said Tehran had made “defending these oppressed but capable fighters” a permanent strategic policy, according to the message.

In the message, published by Iranian media, Khamenei said that “jihad and resistance” were the way to confront the United States. He praised Hezbollah’s “steadfastness” and said the group stood as “a solid rock” against the Israeli occupation.

Hezbollah had earlier sent a message to Khamenei, saying: “We pledge to continue on the path of dignity, with patience and determination. Just as we stood with the martyred leader, we will stand with you.”
