Nangere Community Remembers Sen. Talba as Hon. Haruna Sardauna Revives Beloved Mosquito Fumigation Campaign

The people of Nangere Local Government Area have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Haruna Adamu Sardauna for reinvigorating a significant public health initiative that honors the legacy of the late Sen. Adamu Garba Talba. Residents were thrilled to witness fumigation teams returning to their villages, a tradition thought to have faded away.

For years, the late Senator Talba was renowned not just for his leadership but for his commitment to public health, particularly through his annual mosquito fumigation campaign. This initiative, which spanned from 2007 to 2011, played a crucial role in safeguarding families from malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases during the rainy season.

With the cessation of the fumigation efforts after Sen. Talba’s tenure, many residents were left with uncertainty regarding the future of such vital interventions. However, the emergence of the Giving Back to the Community Project, led by Hon. Sardauna, has reignited hope among the community members.

Community center leaders, including the Chairman of the Nangere Community Development Association, Hon. Musa Katsura, praised Sardauna for being the first political leader to revive this essential health campaign. The initiative, which launched its first phase in the Fika and Potiskum Emirates, was warmly welcomed by residents eager for an effective malaria prevention strategy.

The initiative is not confined to Nangere, as Team Leader Hon. Abdullahi Mazagane indicated plans to extend the fumigation efforts throughout the Yobe South Senatorial District, ensuring broader community impact.
