The Nigerian Economic Society, South South Zone, NES-SSZ, under the leadership of the South-South Coordinator, Professor Mercy Ada Anyiwe, has said that NES-Delta, under the chairmanship of Dr. Richardson Kojo Edeme
will be the host for the SOUTH-SOUTH ECONOMIC SUMMIT 2026 OF BRACED STATES to kick-start tomorrow morning in Asaba, at Dennis Osadebay University.
Daily Independent learnt this from Prof Mercy Ada Anyiwe in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being Monday, July 13, 2026 as she stated that the 2-day summit will be anchored on the Theme: “Unlocking South-South Potentials: Sustainability & Transformation; Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Economic Development: Issues & Policy” to hold from Tuesday 14th to Wednesday 15th July, 2026* at the 500 Capacity Hall, Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Delta State by 10:00 am daily.
In her words: “This landmark summit is designed to bring together economists, policymakers, academics, industry leaders, traditional rulers, and development partners to interrogate critical issues affecting the economic growth and transformation of the six BRACED States: Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom”.
Speaking further to our reporter, Professor Mercy Ada Anyiwe, South-South Coordinator, NES-SSZ, stated: As regards the significance of the summit, the South-South region remains central to Nigeria’s economic future. This summit provides a strategic platform to unlock our regional potentials through evidence-based policy, technological innovation, and sustainable development. Artificial Intelligence, green economy, and inclusive growth will dominate our conversations as we chart a new path for the BRACED states.”
