The family of a Nigerian woman, Christiana Nwosu, who died unexpectedly while visiting UK, is appealing for public support to bring her remains back to Nigeria for burial.
Nwosu reportedly died of cardiac arrest on July 19, 2026, leaving her family, friends and loved ones in deep shock and mourning. According to those close to her, her sudden passing has created a painful void, especially for her children, who are now grieving the loss of a beloved mother.

To help cover the cost of returning her body home, the family has launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.
The appeal, organised by Chijioke Metuka on behalf of the Nwosu family, describes Christiana as a kind-hearted woman whose warmth, love and generosity touched many lives.
“She was a beacon of light, love and warmth,” the appeal reads, adding that the family is determined to fulfil her final journey by laying her to rest in Nigeria, surrounded by her extended family and ancestral roots.
However, bringing her remains back from the UK comes with significant financial challenges. According to the campaign, the family needs about £10,000 to cover funeral director fees, specialist repatriation services, documentation, air freight, transportation and burial expenses.
“We have set up this fund to support Izuchukwu and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” the organisers said. “Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards covering the repatriation and funeral costs and help ease the financial burden on the family.”
The organisers also appealed to members of the public who may not be able to donate financially to support the campaign by sharing it with others and keeping the family in their thoughts and prayers.
As of the time this report was filed, the campaign had raised £7,941, bringing it closer to its £10,000 target.
Nwosu’s death is the latest in a series of heartbreaking cases involving Nigerians who died while visiting the UK.
Earlier this year, another Nigerian woman, Oluranti Akinyemi, passed away shortly after arriving in the UK to attend her son’s graduation ceremony. Her family also launched a public fundraising campaign to raise £20,000 to cover the cost of repatriating her remains to Nigeria and meeting funeral expenses.
The two incidents have once again drawn attention to the high cost of repatriating the remains of loved ones who die abroad, leaving many grieving families to rely on public support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
