The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening leadership development and institutional capacity building with the graduation of 62 senior officers from the 13th Command Course at the Immigration Command and Staff College (ICSC), Sokoto.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony on Saturday, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, urged the graduating officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and excellence in leadership as they take on greater responsibilities within the Service.
Represented by the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of the Directorate of Human Resource Management, S. U. Agba, the Comptroller-General said the three-month intensive training was designed to equip participants with strategic leadership skills, as well as competencies in border security and migration management.
According to the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI AS Akinlabi, in a statement, she charged the officers, drawn from Commands and Formations across the country, to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating accountability, innovation and transformational leadership.
“The Service remains committed to building a highly professional, disciplined and technology-driven workforce capable of effectively addressing emerging migration and border security challenges,” Agba said on behalf of the Comptroller-General.
He further encouraged the graduating officers to exhibit integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties while contributing to improved service delivery and national security.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Immigration Command and Staff College, A. D. Bagari, congratulated the graduands for successfully completing the demanding training programme.
Bagari commended their dedication throughout the course and urged them to apply the knowledge and leadership skills acquired to improve operational effectiveness across the Service.
He also called on them to remain responsive to the demands of public service while maintaining vigilance in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.
“The knowledge and leadership skills you have acquired should translate into improved operational effectiveness and a stronger commitment to protecting the nation’s borders,” he said.
Highlights of the ceremony included the conferment of the Pass Command Course (PCC) honour on the 62 graduating officers, presentation of awards to outstanding participants by the Comptroller-General’s representative and other distinguished guests, as well as the decoration of Course Provosts with the Badge of Honour by the Commandant in recognition of their exemplary service.
The event attracted dignitaries, including representatives of the Sultan of Sokoto, heads and representatives of security agencies, and other invited guests, who commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its sustained investment in leadership development and institutional excellence.
