“No More NDC or NPP”: The Base Movement Calls on Kennedy Agyapong To Lead Third-Force Political Push

Members of The Base Movement have publicly called on maverick politician Kennedy Agyapong to lead their organisation, declaring their intention to offer Ghanaians a political alternative beyond the two dominant parties that have governed the country since the return of multiparty democracy.

The appeal was made during the movement’s activities by women identifying themselves as members, who were captured on footage covered by Ultimate FM 106.9 and Abusua FM 96.5 making a direct and emphatic plea to the outspoken former Member of Parliament for Assin Central.

“No more NDC or NPP. The Base Movement has come to save Ghana, and we are pleading with Kennedy Agyapong to come and lead us,” the women declared.

The Base Movement, which operates under the tagline “Ghana First,” positions itself as a nationalist, third-force political platform seeking to challenge the entrenched duopoly of the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party in Ghanaian politics.

Kennedy Agyapong, who has previously contested for the NPP flagbearership and has cultivated a significant personal following among Ghanaians both at home and in the diaspora, had not publicly responded to the appeal at the time of publication.

Third-force political movements have historically struggled to gain significant electoral traction in Ghana’s entrenched two-party system, though public disillusionment with both major parties has periodically fuelled interest in alternative political platforms.
