NUC Approves 12 New Undergraduate, Postgraduate Programmes For Sa’adu Zungur University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially approved 12 new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau, to commence in the 2026/2027 academic session.

This was contained in a press statement by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Gadau, Auwal Hassan, and made available to journalists in Bauchi.

The approval was communicated in an NUC letter dated 15 June 2026, following a thorough resource assessment of the institution’s academic personnel, physical infrastructure, laboratories, and library facilities.

The newly introduced courses span various fields of education, law, social sciences, and administration:

Undergraduate Degrees include B.A. (Ed.) Arabic, B.A. (Ed.) Hausa, B.A (Ed.) Islamic Studies, B.A. Sharia, B.Sc. Social Work, B.Sc. (Ed.) Agricultural Science, B.Sc. (Ed.) Human Kinetics, B.Sc. (Ed.) Health Education.

Under Postgraduate Degrees, the courses Ed. Educational Management, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Law: Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), LL.M., and Ph.D, Sociology: Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), M.Sc. and Ph.D.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the NUC’s decision as a validation of the university’s growth and its commitment to regulatory standards.

She noted that the expansion aligns with SAZU’s strategic plan to boost access to quality higher education and produce globally competitive graduates.

Professor Tahir expressed gratitude to the NUC for its confidence in the university’s capacity.

She also extended appreciation to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Visitor to the University, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, praising his continuous financial and infrastructural support.

Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor commended the university’s Governing Council, Senate, management, and staff for their collective dedication during the assessment exercise.

She assured parents and prospective students that the university will deploy all necessary material and human resources to maintain high quality-assurance standards for the new programmes
