The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has suffered another defection as Dr Peter Ogundeji, popularly known as APATA, has resigned his membership of the party.
Ogundeji, a former aspirant for the Osun West Senatorial District, announced his resignation in a letter dated July 11, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 6, Ola, in Ejigbo Local Government Area.
In the letter, the politician said the decision followed deep personal reflection and extensive consultations.
“Although leaving the party was difficult, I believe it is in the best interest of my political convictions and future aspirations,” he wrote.
He said he also considered the views of his political associates, supporters and other stakeholders before taking the step.

Ogundeji described the move as one driven by commitment to fairness, inclusiveness and mutual respect.
Despite quitting, he acknowledged the opportunities the APC offered him during his time in the party.
“I appreciate party leaders and members for the relationships built and the experiences gained over the years,” he added.
Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to the APC Chairman in Ejigbo LGA and the Osun State chapter of the party.
Ogundeji thanked the party leadership and requested that his letter be accepted as formal notice of resignation.
