PDP, APM Hail Rescue Of Abducted Oyo Students, Teachers, Urge Stronger Security Measures

The Interim National Work­ing Committee (INWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the safe return of the students and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State several months ago, describing their rescue as a relief to their families and the nation.

In a statement on Friday in Abuja by its National Pub­licity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party expressed gratitude that the victims had regained their freedom after months in cap­tivity.

The PDP commended the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, security agencies, and all in­dividuals and organisations whose efforts contributed to the successful rescue, noting that while details of the oper­ation remain limited, the safe return of the victims is a pos­itive development.

The party stressed that no Nigerian should be exposed to the trauma of kidnapping while pursuing education, describing the incident as a reminder of the country’s persistent security challenges.

The opposition party urged the Federal Government to take more decisive measures to prevent future abductions and improve the safety of schools and other public in­stitutions across the country.

According to the PDP, safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remains the foremost responsibility of government and must be treated as a priority.

The statement reaffirmed the party’s solidarity with the rescued students, teachers and their families, while calling for sustained efforts to strengthen security and ensure that simi­lar incidents do not recur.

Meanwhile, the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has welcomed the safe rescue and release of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers, describing the development as a major relief for the na­tion.

The party said the success­ful rescue brings to an end weeks of anxiety and uncer­tainty for the victims’ families, the affected schools, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians who had remained hopeful for their safe return.

APM, in a statement on Fri­day in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Abu­bakar Yusuf, commended the professionalism, resilience and coordinated efforts of the nation’s security agen­cies, including the military, the Nigeria Police Force and local intelligence operatives, whose dedication made the successful rescue possible.

The party also praised the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Ma­kinde, for providing purpose­ful leadership and working closely with security agencies throughout the period.
