The operatives of Delta State Police Command said they have arrested two suspects with firearms during separate operations carried out in Ozoro and Ughelli.
Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.
Edafe a Superintendent of Police (SP) said the
Command recorded operational successes with the recovery of two illegal firearms and the arrest of two suspects in separate intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives of Ozoro and Agbor divisions.
He said that on July 25, 2026, operatives of Ozoro division, while on routine township patrol along Alaka road, Ozoro, intercepted one Yakubu Musa, male, 25-year-old, who was carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen.
He said that when interrogated, Musa could not give satisfactory account of the items in his possession, prompting further investigation.
“A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of one cut-to-size single-barrel gun. The suspect is in custody, while investigation is ongoing.”
In another development, the PPRO said that
on July 24, 2026, while acting on credible intelligence, operatives of Agbor division intercepted one Sunday Anaboro (m), 40-year-old of Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area, who resides in Agbor.
He said that a search carried out on Anaboro led to the recovery of one Beretta pistol concealed in a sack.
The police image maker said the suspect was arrested and presently in custody.
He added that he would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reiterating the command’s resolve to rid the State of illegal firearms and other dangerous instruments of crime.
He urged members of the public to always support the police with credible and timely information to enable them combat crime effectively in the state.
