Residents Hold Prayer Rally Over Frequent Fatal Accidents on Aba–Ikot Ekpene Highway

Residents and concerned stakeholders gathered for a prayer rally to seek divine intervention over the recurring road accidents along the Aba–Ikot Ekpene Highway, despite persistent rainfall that lasted for most of the day.

The downpour did not deter participants, who turned out in large numbers for the programme organised to pray for an end to the frequent crashes that have claimed many lives on the highway.

The event attracted members of Agalaba Full Squad alongside members of the public, all united by concern over the increasing number of fatal accidents on the road.

Speaking at the gathering, the convener, Evangelist Chizuru Lowell Odoemelam, drew his message from 2 Chronicles 7:14, stressing that every genuine revival begins with prayer.

He likened the gathering to the biblical account of Nehemiah, who mourned over the state of Jerusalem before seeking God’s intervention. According to him, the prayer rally was aimed at seeking divine mercy to end the recurring tragedies along the highway.

Odoemelam urged participants to remain steadfast in faith, noting that just as Nehemiah was not discouraged by opposition from Sanballat and Tobiah, the people should remain committed to praying for lasting solutions to the safety challenges on the road.

The programme featured praise and worship sessions as well as intercessory prayers for the safety of road users and peace in the affected communities.

Among those in attendance was the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Obingwa East State Constituency, Hon. Justice Ogbonna, alongside other dignitaries.
