Safe Schools Initiative: Police Arrest Security Impersonator Over Attempted Rape, Theft At Bauchi Health College

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old man, Ahmed Saleh, for allegedly impersonating a security operative, unlawfully entering a female students’ hostel, attempting to rape a student, and committing theft at Malikiyya College of Health in Bauchi.
The suspect, a resident of Kobi area in Bauchi metropolis, was apprehended under the Command’s Safe Schools Initiative following a distress call from the college on Thursday.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said preliminary investigations revealed that Saleh, who claimed to be attached to Garu Security Service, unlawfully gained access to the female students’ hostel located in Old GRA, Bauchi, while dressed in a full police camouflage uniform.
According to the police spokesperson, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division immediately mobilised a team of detectives and patrol officers to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.
The police camouflage uniform allegedly worn by the suspect was recovered as an exhibit, and he was taken into custody for further interrogation.
SP Nafiu disclosed that ongoing investigations have also linked the suspect to a series of theft incidents previously reported within the hostel premises.
He said the suspect remains in police custody while discreet investigations continue, adding that he will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, cautioned individuals and private security organisations against impersonating law enforcement agencies.
The police commissioner also reassured residents, particularly students, of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of educational institutions across Bauchi State under the Safe Schools Initiative.
