The Taraba State Baptist Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention has ordained six ministers into the pastoral ministry, urging them to uphold humility, integrity, accountability and selfless service in their leadership.The ordination took place at the First Baptist Church, Jalingo, during the 2026 Taraba State Baptist Conference, attended by church leaders, delegates and worshippers from across the state.
Delivering the ordination sermon, Rev. Abraham Kasiwa, speaking on the theme “Ordained to Serve” from Mark 10:41–45, said Christian leadership is founded on sacrificial service rather than authority or personal ambition. He encouraged the newly ordained pastors to model their ministry after Jesus Christ through humility, compassion and dedication to God’s work.
President of the Taraba State Baptist Conference, Rev. Aliyuda Iro Moses, described ordination as a sacred responsibility that requires greater commitment, accountability and faithful stewardship. He urged the pastors to remain committed to the teachings and mission of the Nigerian Baptist Convention while calling on church members to support their ministers through prayers and active participation in church activities.
Responding on behalf of the newly ordained ministers, Rev. Joseph Boniface thanked the conference leadership for the opportunity to serve and pledged their commitment to preaching the Gospel with sincerity and integrity. The ceremony featured praise and worship, musical ministrations, the reading of the ordinands’ biographies, the Litany of Commitment, oath-taking and the laying on of hands, marking their formal induction into pastoral ministry.
