Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has been selected to receive the 2026 Golden Image Presidential Excellence Award, an international honour recognising exemplary leadership, humanitarian service and commitment to sustainable development.The award, under the International Category of Grand Honors, is organised by the Golden Image Award (GIA) in partnership with the Liberia Crusaders for Peace.
According to an official invitation issued by the organisers, Governor Kefas was chosen after a comprehensive evaluation of his leadership credentials, public service record and contributions to promoting human development and improving the welfare of citizens.The organisers said the annual award recognises outstanding personalities from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas whose contributions have advanced peace, good governance, human dignity, investment and sustainable development.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled for July 21, 2026, at the E.J.S. Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, as part of activities marking Liberia’s Independence Day celebrations. The event is expected to be held under the leadership of Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr.
Governor Kefas is also expected to receive official VIP protocol during his visit to Liberia in recognition of the honour. The recognition is the latest in a series of accolades for the Taraba governor, whose administration has implemented reforms in education, infrastructure, security, healthcare and youth empowerment since assuming office in May 2023.
Political observers say the award reflects growing international recognition of the governor’s development agenda and his administration’s efforts to expand access to quality education, strengthen public institutions and promote inclusive governance.
The Golden Image Presidential Excellence Award is an international recognition programme that honours public officials, institutions and private individuals whose leadership and service have made significant contributions to humanity and societal development.
