Tijjaniyya Shura Council Endorses Gov Yusuf For 2nd Term

The chairman of the Shura Council of the Tijjaniyya Sect, Sheikh Sani Shehu Maihula, has declared the council’s support for the re-election of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the next governorship election.

Maihula announced the endorsement during the annual Zikr and national prayer organised by the sect at the Kano Emir’s Palace. His address was delivered by his brother and spokesperson of the Tijjaniyya Shura Council, Sheikh Ibrahim Shehu Maihula.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, members of the council unanimously resolved to back Yusuf’s second-term bid, citing his commitment to good governance, promotion of Islamic values and implementation of people-centred policies.

The cleric commended the governor for supporting religious activities and executing programmes in education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare across the state.

Responding, Governor Yusuf thanked the leadership and members of the council for what he described as their prayers, confidence and overwhelming support.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to serving the people of Kano with sincerity, justice and the fear of God, pledging to sustain policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

The governor also appreciated religious leaders across the state for their continued prayers and guidance, describing them as critical partners in promoting peace, unity and sustainable development in Kano State.
