President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with senior military and intelligence officials at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday to review nationwide security updates.
The meeting, held at the president’s office in the State House, formed part of the administration’s regular review of the nation’s security architecture and ongoing operations aimed at tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.
Top military commanders and heads of intelligence agencies took turns to brief the president on developments within their respective areas of responsibility, as well as ongoing efforts to improve security across the country.
Among those who attended the meeting were the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.); the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Lieutenant General Emmanuel Akomaye Undiandeye; the Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa; the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi.
Although details of the deliberations were not immediately made public, the meeting underscored the Tinubu administration’s continued emphasis on close coordination among the armed forces and intelligence agencies in addressing the country’s security challenges.
