US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington would “probably” launch new strikes against Iran after recent US attacks on Tehran, as he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
“We hit them very hard last night, very, very. Probably hit them hard again tonight. I’ll give him a little warning. We’re going to hit him hard tonight,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday during his meeting with Zelenskyy.
The US president again stressed that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon, reiterating a long-standing position of his administration.
Trump also said a memorandum of understanding signed last month with Iran aimed at ending the conflict was no longer in effect.
“It’s a very interesting question to me. I think it’s over,” he said when asked whether the framework agreement had collapsed.

Trump described his meeting with Zelenskyy as “a great honour” and said both the Ukrainian leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to see an end to the war.
“He wants to see a settlement, and I think President Putin wants to see a settlement,” Trump said, referring to Zelenskyy.
