A court in the United Kingdom (UK) has sentenced a Nigerian man, Obinwa Obichukwu, to two years in prison after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a woman twice at London’s Euston railway station.
Obichukwu, 45, of Armstrong Close, Hertfordshire, was sentenced at the Inner London Crown Court on July 21, following his conviction on two counts of sexual assault earlier this year.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered that he remain on the UK Sex Offenders Register for the next 10 years.
According to the British Transport Police (BTP), the assaults took place on the evening of August 20, 2023, when the victim was walking towards Euston station in central London.
Investigators said Obichukwu approached the woman and began a conversation by asking what music she was listening to. He then allegedly placed his arm around her shoulders and asked her to return home with him.
As the woman continued walking along Euston Road, he repeatedly grabbed her hand and told her he loved her, despite her attempts to continue on her way.
Police said the situation escalated when Obichukwu blocked the woman from entering the railway station and sexually assaulted her near the entrance.
The victim managed to make her way into the station and headed towards the London Underground platforms, hoping to escape. However, prosecutors said Obichukwu followed her down the escalator and sexually assaulted her again near the ticket barriers.
The woman eventually pushed him away and fled the scene before reporting the incident to the authorities.
British Transport Police officers launched an investigation and later traced Obichukwu to his home, where he was arrested.
The prosecution relied on the victim’s detailed account of the incident, supported by CCTV footage from the station. The evidence was presented during the trial, leading the jury to find him guilty of two counts of sexual assault.
Reacting to the conviction, Detective Constable Daniel Burke described Obichukwu as “a sexual predator” who deliberately preyed on a woman travelling alone.
Burke said the defendant claimed during the trial that the encounter had been consensual, but the jury rejected his account after reviewing the evidence.
He added that tackling violence against women and girls remains a key priority for the British Transport Police and urged members of the public to report incidents of harassment or abuse on the railway network.
Authorities said the sentence reflects the seriousness of the offences and reaffirmed their commitment to bringing offenders who target vulnerable passengers to justice.
