The previous figure released in May by US President Donald Trump’s administration was $29B, though full calculations of the total remain unclear.
The Pentagon is separately asking Congress for a supplemental $67B, and the US Defense Department’s internal estimate is reported by NBC as being between $80 and $100B, well above the public figures.
Republican and Democratic lawmakers have both pressed the Pentagon for clearer answers since the war was launched on February 28.
