Mr. Tanko Habila Wisdom, the father of late Mary Habila, has explained why he is opposed to an autopsy on his daughter’s body, insisting that his only wish is to receive her remains for a proper burial.
Speaking to journalists in a video seen by NAIJAONPOINT, Tanko said he had no interest in prolonging the matter, stressing that it was against their tradition to keep the body of a young person in the mortuary for an extended period.
“Just as my barrister said, I don’t have much to say in this case. All I want is the body of my daughter. We don’t keep the body of a little child for so long like this,” he said.

He appealed to the relevant authorities to release Mary’s remains without further delay.
“That is why I’m here to say once again and for all, I need the remains of my daughter to take her for burial. That is what I’m standing on. I’m demanding the remains of my daughter for burial,” he added.
Tanko also described his late daughter as a peaceful and friendly person who maintained cordial relationships with people around her.
“She had a very cordial relationship with everyone, both at my workplace, at home and everywhere,” he said.
Responding to questions on whether he suspected foul play in his daughter’s death, the bereaved father said he was not accusing anyone, noting that death could happen unexpectedly.
“I am not suspecting anyone because death can occur anywhere. Even as we are standing here, one can fall here now and die. We are not suspecting anybody. It has happened,” he stated.
His comments come amid ongoing public interest in the circumstances surrounding Mary’s death, with his family maintaining that their priority is to lay her to rest rather than pursue an autopsy.
