2026 Ballon d’Or: He disappeared – Petit names player that won’t win award
Former France midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, has ruled Bayern Munich and England striker, Harry Kane out of the running for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Petit claims that Kane doesn’t deserve to win the prize, as he disappeared in the big matches.
“Following this World Cup, Harry Kane’s chances for the Ballon d’Or have diminished,” the 55-year-old told Sport1.
“If you base it purely on the Bundesliga, he would certainly be a candidate.
“But in the Champions League and with the national team, whenever things got really tight, he mostly disappeared.”
Kane was crowned the top scorer in Bundesliga for the third season in a row, after he scored 36 goals.
The 33-year-old recorded 10 goals in the DFB-Pokal and netted 14 goals in 13 Champions League matches.
