The Osun State chapters of the All Progressives Congress and Accord Party have traded accusations over alleged political violence and killings ahead of the forthcoming August 15 governorship election.
Osun APC in a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke to explain what it described as a “hoodlum-friendly administration” since he assumed office in November 2022.
The party alleged that the governor had depended on his siblings to run his government and had failed to condemn killings of its members in 2022.
“Governor Adeleke, who has been a stranger to his administration, has largely depended on his siblings for the running of his government for lack of not knowing what to do with the government apparatus,” the statement stated.
The APC alleged that no fewer than 30 of its members and supporters were killed by PDP thugs during the 2022 poll, with Ijesaland accounting for 17 victims.
It further accused Adeleke of benefiting from electoral terrorism in 2022 with the help of allies in Abuja and of allowing voting to continue till 11pm in Ede and Owode under heavy security.
“It would be recalled that Governor Adeleke was able to get away with his electoral terrorism that claimed so many lives in 2022 because he was having his allies in Abuja who wanted the former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, out of power by all means,” Olabisi stated.
But the Osun Accord fired back, accusing the APC of orchestrating “a reign of terror” against Accord members and residents.
In a statement by its State Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, Accord said the ongoing killings, arrests and attacks on Osun people won’t stop the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“Osun people know the APC and its candidate as violence-prone. In 2022, the governor lost over 40 members of his party to Osun APC attacks. Families of 2022 victims are still in pain at the loss of their loved ones. Till date, no investigation or prosecution has taken place,” Akande said.
The party claimed it lost eight members in 2026 while over 20 others suffered gunshot wounds.
It further alleged that APC thugs, “supported by certain elements within the state police command,” were illegally arresting Accord members and shooting at the public in branded vehicles.
“APC adopted violence as a weapon of campaign to scare away voters, to stop Osun from voting. Over 60 Accord members are languishing in prison without trial,” Akande alleged, adding that “By God and people, Governor Adeleke’s re-election is a done deal.”
