The re-elected governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has pledged to intensify his administration’s development agenda and transform Osun State from a civil-service-based economy into an industrial and investment destination following his re-election.
Adeleke made the commitment while addressing journalists after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
The governor, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won by a margin of 66,252 votes after results from the 30 local government areas of the state were collated by INEC. He also secured victory in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
Speaking after his victory, Adeleke said his administration would use the renewed mandate to expand development across the state and widen the reach of good governance.
He said his vision remained to move Osun away from dependence on the civil service and position the state as an industrial hub capable of attracting investments and creating opportunities for its people.
“My vision taking Osun from a civil service state to an industrial state and investment destination,” Adeleke said.
The governor also extended an olive branch to other candidates who contested the election against him.
“In this race there is no victor, no vanquished. I extend an olive branch to my co-contestants. I am the governor of all Osun State people,” he said.

Adeleke expressed appreciation to all supporters of democracy in Nigeria and abroad for what he described as overwhelming support for his political struggle, saying the outcome had placed Osun on the path of renewed development.
“To all lovers of democracy, I thank you for supporting our struggle. The support is overwhelming both home and abroad. Osun State is on the march again,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his support for a free and fair election, describing the President as “a son of Osun State.”
He further reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, saying he was maintaining his earlier endorsement of the President.
“I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement for the second term of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential Election,” the governor said.
NAIJAONPOINT reports that the re-election gives Adeleke another four years after he first emerged governor in the 2022 governorship election. His latest victory came after a keenly contested race against Oyebamiji and other candidates, with the final result showing a 66,252-vote difference between the two leading contenders.
