APC unveils 2027 presidential campaign council, names Yari DG, Oshiomhole mobilisation chief

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its presidential campaign council ahead of the 2027 general election, with former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, appointed as Director-General.

President Bola Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, were named Vice Chairmen I and II respectively.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary of the campaign council, with Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as Deputy Secretary and Hadiza Bala Usman as Assistant Secretary.

The council also features several serving and former governors, ministers, lawmakers, party leaders and political stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones.

Among those appointed are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

The media and strategic communications team includes Information Minister Mohammed Idris, Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, Lanre Isa-Onilu, Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka.

Segun Dada was named Director of New Media, while Dele Alake, Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Feyisetan Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda were listed as presidential campaign spokespersons.

The campaign council also created dedicated structures for youth, women, persons with disabilities, sports, education, manufacturing and MSMEs, extractive industries, faith-based mobilisation, labour relations, grassroots engagement, stakeholder mobilisation and digital operations.

The APC said its state campaign coordinators would comprise APC governors in states controlled by the party and APC governorship candidates in states where the party is not in power.

The council will coordinate the party’s nationwide campaign as President Tinubu seeks re-election in 2027.
