Chinese Actor Says Investor and Co-Star Harassed Him During Filming With Over 60 Kissing Scenes

Chinese actor Zhong Yufei has spoken about the disturbing experience he allegedly faced while filming a short drama that he hoped would become his big break.

The 23-year-old actor claimed his female co-star repeatedly harassed him during filming. The woman was also the only investor in the production.

Reports say she agreed to finance the 50-episode short drama under two conditions. She had to play the female lead, and she had to control the script.

Her financial power reportedly gave her full control over the production. Crew members feared that she could cancel the project if anyone challenged her decisions.

The approved script included more than 60 kissing scenes. The director and other crew members reportedly warned her that so many romantic scenes could weaken the story and distract viewers. She refused to change the script.

“I’ve seen more short dramas than you’ve ever made,” the woman allegedly said, completely ignoring any and all advice.

Zhong, who played the male lead, said he was shocked during their first romantic scene when his co-star allegedly French-kissed him without warning.

He instinctively tried to move away. However, he claimed she grabbed the back of his head and held him in place while kissing him.

Zhong had previously played only a few supporting roles in short dramas. He believed the series could advance his career, so he did not object despite the alleged harassment.

He also claimed that other people on set saw what was happening but chose to ignore it. Their reaction reportedly made him feel unable to speak out.

Film producer Meng Xing later revealed that the streaming platform rejected the series because it contained too many kissing scenes.

The platform reviewed several episodes during post-production and reportedly found them too explicit. It also feared that the content could violate broadcasting regulations.

The rejection turned the production into a commercial failure. The drama also received negative public reactions over its weak script.

Meng later said that he and his production team had almost no control over the project. According to him, the lead actress and sole investor made all the major decisions.

The allegations have gone viral on Chinese social media. They have started a wider discussion about the harassment young actors may face on film sets.

Some people argued that wealthy investors can abuse their power and treat actors as objects when productions lack proper protection and accountability.
