CP Oyeniyi Warns Officers Against Undue Detention Of Suspects, Harps On Respect Of Human Rights, Others

LAGOS – The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has called on officers and men of his command to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in carrying out their duties.

CP Oyeniyi who made this call at the Delta State police command headquarters, Asaba, while delivering lecture to the officers, also tasked them on strengthening community policing as well as redoubling their efforts in advancing the vision of the Inspector-General of Police through efficient, people-centred policing.

The CP who further averred that senior officers must mentor younger personnel, directed investigating officers to promptly charge completed cases to the court and avoid unnecessary detention of suspects.

He reminded all officers that civility, respect for human rights, and professionalism in their interactions with members of the public are fundamental to effective policing.
