Davido: Fadahunsi, Wole Oke won’t return to National Assembly while I’m alive

Afrobeats star Davido has said Senator Francis Fadahunsi and House of Representatives member Oluwole Oke will not return to the National Assembly after the 2027 general election if he has anything to do with it. The singer made the remark while reacting to a social media post predicting that the two Osun politicians would retain their seats.
Davido, whose full name is David Adeleke, responded on X after a user praised Fadahunsi and Oke and suggested they would be re-elected.
The user wrote: “Fada and Wole Oke showed capacity sha. They’ll be returning to the national assembly, I’m afraid.”
Davido replied: “Not with me alive.”
The short response quickly drew attention because both lawmakers are prominent figures in Osun politics and are expected to seek another term in the 2027 National Assembly elections.
Davido is the nephew of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and has been increasingly vocal about political developments in the state.
Davido targets two APC lawmakers ahead of 2027
Senator Francis Fadahunsi represents Osun East Senatorial District.
He was first elected to the Senate in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and won another term in 2023. He later moved to the All Progressives Congress.
Fadahunsi has already secured the APC ticket to contest again in 2027 after winning the party’s Osun East senatorial primary with 23,593 votes.
Oluwole Oke, meanwhile, represents the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
He is one of Osun’s longest-serving federal lawmakers and has been in the House since 2003. He also moved from the PDP to the APC ahead of the current political realignment in the state.
Davido’s comment therefore places him directly into a developing battle over who should represent parts of Osun State in Abuja after the 2027 elections.
However, his statement is a political declaration rather than a determination of the election outcome.
Only registered voters in the affected constituencies will decide whether Fadahunsi and Oke return to the National Assembly, subject to the official electoral process conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Political tension remains high in Osun
Davido’s intervention comes only days after a closely fought Osun governorship election in which Governor Ademola Adeleke secured another term.
The result has continued to generate political disagreement in the state.
The Osun APC has rejected Adeleke’s victory and said it is reviewing election records before deciding whether to pursue a legal challenge.
Political tensions have also been heightened by accusations and counter-accusations involving violence before and after the election.
On Wednesday, Governor Adeleke’s convoy came under gunfire in Osogbo, although responsibility for that incident has not been officially attributed to any political party or politician.
Against that background, Davido’s remarks are likely to attract further political attention as parties begin preparing for the 2027 National Assembly contests.
Davido becoming more vocal about politics
Although Davido is best known internationally for his music, he has regularly supported his uncle’s political campaigns.
He played a visible role during Ademola Adeleke’s election campaigns and has used his social media platforms to comment on political developments in Osun.
New Daily Prime previously reported that Davido had left open the possibility of entering politics himself in the future. At the time, he said his immediate priority remained music.
His latest statement does not amount to an announcement that he will contest an election.
Instead, it suggests that he intends to use his public influence to oppose the re-election of Fadahunsi and Oke.
Exactly what role he intends to play in the 2027 campaigns remains unclear.
He could support rival candidates, campaign publicly against the two lawmakers or simply use his large online following to express his political preferences.
2027 battle already taking shape
Fadahunsi is already positioned for the election after emerging as the APC candidate for Osun East.
His primary victory means any effort to prevent his return to the Senate will ultimately depend on the strength of rival candidates and the decision of voters across the senatorial district.
The same applies to Oke’s political future.
Despite Davido’s strong language, neither he nor any other individual can personally prevent an eligible candidate from contesting or being elected.
The 2027 outcome will depend on party nominations, voter participation, the conduct of the election and any legal challenges that may follow.
Davido’s intervention nevertheless adds another dimension to Osun’s political rivalry.
It also shows how the battle that dominated the 2026 governorship election is already beginning to shift towards the next round of federal elections.
For the two APC lawmakers, Davido has made his position clear.
Whether Osun voters agree with him will only be known when they go to the polls in 2027.
