Diphtheria Outbreak Worsens In Katsina

Despite the situation, the hospital said it was taking necessary measures to accommodate and manage the rising number of patients while continuing to provide timely and quality care to affected children.
According to the management, healthcare workers at the facility have continued to demonstrate commitment and resilience in caring for critically ill children amid the pressure.
“FTH Katsina is doing everything within its capacity to provide timely and quality care to affected children,” the statement said.
The hospital further stressed the need for a coordinated response involving relevant health facilities and stakeholders to effectively manage the outbreak and protect the lives of affected children.
Though the hospital affirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to contain the outbreak while urging coordinated action to address the growing pressure on healthcare facilities.
A man whose son died at the hospital told our Correspondent that facility has been overwhelmed, medications finished and the staff and also out of control.
He therefore called the Federal and state government to urgently take action to save the lives of children coming to the hospital for medication.
