DLA Affirms Osun-Born Entrepreneur As 2027 Presidential Candidate
The Osun State chapter of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA, has affirmed American-based entrepreneur, Adebisi Olusoji, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Olusoji, who hails from Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun, was affirmed through a voice vote by delegates of the party during a substitution primary election held at the party secretariat in Osogbo on Thursday.
Addressing party members and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Olalekan Fabayo, said the affirmation became necessary following the withdrawal of the party’s former presidential candidate, Barrister Samuel Memeh.
He said, “This substitution primary is in line with the constitution of the party and the Electoral Act 2026. It became necessary following the withdrawal of our former presidential candidate.”
In his address, the State Chairman of DLA, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, said the country needs a pragmatic shift from “old hands to a new beginning” that will place Nigeria higher among the comity of nations.
Odeyemi said Nigerians have experienced what both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have to offer, noting that it was time for a new direction.
“We are here today to affirm our presidential candidate. This event is taking place in all the state and at our national headquarters in Abuja. Ambassador Olusoji is being affirmed following the withdrawal of our former presidential candidate, Barrister Samuel Memeh.
“Nigerians have seen it all. Both APC and PDP have demonstrated their capacities, they’ve given us their best hands, it is time for a change,” Odeyemi said.

According to him, DLA is positioning itself as a party to trust because of its clear vision and commitment to getting its choice of candidate right.
The DLA chairman added that the affirmation also marks the beginning of the party’s 2030 agenda for Osun State.
He noted that the party is ready to hold the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration accountable where necessary.
“DLA is set to put the ruling party on their toes. We will constructively criticise whatever programme we feel will not serve the best interest of Osun people,” he said.
