A Ghanaian woman living abroad has shared candid advice for prospective migrants, urging them to acquire a practical, income-generating skill before relocating, rather than waiting until they arrive to figure things out.

“If you plan to travel abroad, learn a valuable skill first. At least three months before your trip, learn a skill because it can help you become self-employed, earn a living, and avoid struggling to find a job after you relocate,” she said in a self-recorded video filmed on a street abroad.

According to her, skills such as pedicure and manicure services, fashion designing, and hairdressing remain particularly lucrative trades for newly arrived migrants trying to establish themselves financially.
