Galamsey Pit Collapses In Bomiriso Near Konongo,  Claims Three Lives

A tragic mining accident at Bomiriso, near Konongo in the Ashanti Region, has claimed the lives of three young people believed to be below the age of 30.

The victims, identified as two women and a boy, reportedly died after a galamsey pit collapsed while illegal mining activities were ongoing in the area.

Footage emerging from the site shows the extent of environmental destruction caused by mining activities, with deep excavated areas and abandoned pits posing serious dangers to residents and people working in the area.

The incident has renewed concerns about the dangers associated with illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, including loss of lives, land degradation, and the destruction of water bodies.
