Governor Uba Sani mourns veteran journalist Jafaru Yakubu Maitama

The Kaduna State Government has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden passing of the respected Kaduna-based veteran journalist, Comrade Jafaru Yakubu Maitama, Publisher of TERMS Magazine and National President of the Muslim Media Publishers Association of Nigeria (MMPAN).

In an official statement issued in Kaduna, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Ahmed Maiyaki, described the late media practitioner as a consummate professional whose indelible contributions to journalism, Islamic media leadership, and nation-building would surely be missed.

Alhaji Maiyaki noted that Comrade Maitama was a dedicated newsman who upheld the highest ethical standards of the pen profession throughout his career, using his platform to promote peace, objective reportage, and good governance across Kaduna State and the nation at large.

“On behalf of the Executive Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the government, and the good people of Kaduna State, we offer our deepest sympathies to his immediate family, his close associates, the Muslim Media Publishers Association of Nigeria (MMPAN), and the entire leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, during this moment of grief,”

The Commissioner also prayed that Allah grants his grieving family, colleagues, and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Ahaji Maiyaki further assured the NUJ, MMPAN, and the family that the Kaduna State Government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the media profession in mourning a distinguished professional who used the power of the press for societal progress.
