Group Calls For Security Intervention, Urges Tinubu To Protect Osun Collation Process

An election observation group, Dee Osun Monitors, has called on President Bola Tinubu and security chiefs to ensure credible collation, announcement and transmission of results in the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

In an urgent press statement issued on Saturday night, the group said collation was ongoing across the 39 Local Government Areas and the state capital, Osogbo, and that the role of security agencies at this stage was critical to protecting the people’s mandate.

The statement signed by the Coordinator of the group, Prince Jide Akinyoye, and Secretary, Comrade Victor Olurotimi, appealed to the Inspector General of Police, DG of DSS, Commandant General of NSCDC and all heads of security agencies deployed to the state to secure INEC officials, party agents, journalists and voters at all collation centres and to remain neutral and professional.

“Any act of partisanship or delay at this stage will undermine the people’s will and threaten the peace of Osun.

“We demand neutrality, professionalism, and protection for INEC officials, party agents, journalists, and voters at all collation centres.”

Dee Osun Monitors urged President Tinubu to demonstrate commitment by discouraging any form of political manipulation, interference, or pressure on INEC and security agencies.

The group noted that despite previous issues around withheld federal allocation to Osun LGAs, the people still hold confidence in the President’s leadership.

It added that Nigerians and the global community are watching, and that the credibility of the INEC Chairman and the Commission ahead of the 2027 General Election would be judged by what happens in Osun.
