Social media activist VeryDarkMan has clarified his comments about the Nigerian military following his speech at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference in Rivers State, saying he apologised over how his remarks were interpreted, not because he admitted making the statement attributed to him.
VeryDarkMan said there was never a time or place where he described the entire military as corrupt, stressing that his apology should not be taken as an acceptance of the claims made by the woman who criticised his remarks.
“Let me clear the air on this. I apologise to the military, not because I said what the woman claimed I said, but because of how she interpreted it. There was never a time or place where I said the entire military was cørrupt. My apology does not mean I accepted what the lady said. They are beneficial of those insecurities, Gumi said it, that’s why it yet to stop.”
His clarification has since triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some users criticising him for apologising while others defended his position on insecurity and the military.
