Nollywood actress Lizzy Jay has reacted to the viral video of a female graduate trainee who addressed billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu by his first name while asking a question at a public event.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users debating whether the young woman’s manner of addressing the businessman was confident and modern or lacked the level of respect expected in such a setting.
Joining the conversation in a video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, August 20, 2026, Lizzy Jay expressed her surprise at the trainee’s boldness.
The actress, popularly known as LizzyJay, questioned where the young woman got the confidence to address Elumelu in such a manner, asking, “Where did you get the audacity from?”
Lizzy Jay subsequently used the incident to praise fellow Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham, whom she described as someone who exemplifies respect and traditional Nigerian values.
According to her, Abraham has consistently demonstrated proper etiquette and respect in public spaces while encouraging others to uphold similar values.
She humorously suggested that if Toyin Abraham had been in the trainee’s position, she would have gone to extreme lengths to show respect to Elumelu, even joking that the actress would have “somersaulted” in his presence.
Lizzy Jay also shared how she personally would have approached the situation, revealing that she would have greeted the businessman with, “Good morning, daddy.”
She explained that she has no reservations about referring to wealthy or highly respected individuals as “daddy,” noting that she considers it a simple way of expressing honour and respect.
