Controversial social media activist, Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has said he will honour the invitation of the Nigeria Police Force over his recent allegations against Police officers, but would not submit the evidence in his possession during questioning.
VDM made this known in a video shared on social media while reacting to the police invitation following claims he made at the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt.
NAIJAONPOINT reported that the activist had alleged that some police officers connive with kidnappers in Nigeria, a claim which attracted widespread reactions and prompted the police to invite him to substantiate his allegations.
Reacting to the invitation, VDM said he would appear before the police but would reserve his evidence for court if he is charged.
“Nigeria Police has invited me to come and give evidence about my claims that the police aid kidnapping in Nigeria. That press release came very fast. I stand by my words. I will honour their invitation, but to be very honest, I won’t give them my evidence. I will be charged to court, and then I will tender the evidence,” he said.
VDM questioned the speed with which the police responded to his allegations, comparing it with what he described as delays in the handling of evidence he had previously presented against former police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, and in the case involving Ahmed Tajudeen.
“It is amazing how you are so quick to put out a press statement, but when I was tendering different evidences against Jimoh Moshood and the corruption you did in the case of Ahmed Tajudeen. You people took weeks because you think I didn’t know what I was saying until I kept dropping more evidences upon evidence,” he said.
According to him, the police eventually issued a press statement after he continued to release more evidence, which he alleged was an attempt to make him stop speaking on the matter.
VDM also reacted to Nigerians who, according to him, are celebrating the possibility of his arrest over his allegations against security operatives.
He said some Nigerians who previously urged him to focus on holding the government accountable were now calling for his arrest after he turned his attention to security agencies.
“Some Nigerians are celebrating that I will be arrested. When I try to hold citizens accountable, they said I should focus on the government. Now Nigerians are defending security operatives, urging them to arrest me. This was the same people that told me to focus on the government,” he said.
