I Won’t Oppose Tinubu’s Choice Of Successor In 2031 — Wike

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said he will respect President Bola Tinubu’s choice of successor ahead of the 2031 presidential election.

Wike stated this on Monday in Abuja while speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing road projects across the FCT.

The minister said he would not oppose whoever Tinubu decides to support as his successor in 2031.

“By 2031, Mr President will not run and he will have interest in who will succeed him, and I will not be at loggerhead with his interest,” Wike said.

He also dismissed speculation that his recent political realignment was aimed at positioning himself to contest the presidency in 2031.

According to Wike, his immediate political priority is to support Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.

“My primary concern is whether Tinubu will be re-elected for a second term, and I have made it known from the onsets that I am going to support Mr President with all my might and strength,” he said.

Wike said his political future remained in God’s hands, adding that his immediate concern was to remain alive until 2031.
