The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of cocaine concealed inside phone chargers and allegedly destined for Saudi Arabia.
The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday, warning that drug traffickers are increasingly disguising illicit substances in ordinary household and electronic items to evade detection.
According to Babafemi, the items appeared to be regular phone chargers but were discovered by NDLEA operatives to contain concealed cocaine.
“On the surface value, these are phone chargers but @ndlea_nigeria officers won’t fall for that. Concealed in there are consignments of cocaine going to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
Babafemi said the interception reinforced the agency’s repeated warnings against accepting or helping to transport parcels and luggage for other people without properly verifying their contents.
He urged members of the public to exercise caution, noting that traffickers could exploit unsuspecting individuals to move illicit drugs.
“This is why we keep warning people not to help anyone deliver any parcel or luggage on their face value because of the desperation by traffickers,” Babafemi said.
