The newly appointed Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Professor Abdulrahman Shehu, has outlined plans to improve healthcare delivery through reforms focused on staff welfare, infrastructure and patient-centred services. Professor Shehu disclosed this during an interaction with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, at his office.
He said his administration would prioritise staff welfare, describing employees as the hospital’s greatest asset. According to him, creating a conducive work environment and boosting staff morale are essential to delivering efficient and quality healthcare services.
The CMD said regular engagement with employees would promote teamwork, improve productivity and strengthen the hospital’s operations. He added that management had already begun holding staff meetings to enhance communication, identify challenges and develop collective solutions. “We believe a motivated workforce is essential to delivering efficient, quality and comprehensive healthcare services to patients,” Professor Shehu said.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ in Kogi State, Comrade Segun Ademola Salami, commended the CMD for the initiatives introduced since assuming office. Salami encouraged Professor Shehu to continue engaging members of staff to ensure broad support for the hospital’s reform agenda and improve service delivery.
