A bride and groom have fallen after the elevated podium they were standing on collapsed during their wedding ceremony, in a dramatic moment caught on camera by guests.
A video from the event shows the couple carefully ascending a decorated wooden staircase toward a flower-adorned platform, where they were set to exchange vows, with the bride’s long train trailing behind her as she ascends the steps.
Just as they reached the top and before they could fully steady themselves, the structure gave way beneath them, sending them tumbling down as horrified guests, many of whom had their phones out recording, watched the moment unfold.
The incident has highlighted a recurring risk with elaborate, custom-built wedding staging, elevated podiums, floral archways, and decorative platforms have become increasingly popular for dramatic ceremony entrances, but structural failures like this one underscore the importance of proper engineering and weight-testing before couples and guests are asked to stand on temporary builds.
