The Nigerian Medical Association, Edo State Branch, has honoured the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, with the “Icon of Health Excellence” Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery in the state.
The Award was presented during the Branch’s 2026 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference with the theme “Safeguarding Standards, Advancing Clinical Practice: The Role of Public-Private Partnerships in our Hospitals,” held on July 30th , 2026 at Doctors House, Ugbowo, Benin City.
Presenting the Award, the Chairman of NMA Edo State, Dr. Eustace Oseghale, commended the Governor for the positive transformation witnessed in the health sector under his administration. He noted the Governor’s commitment to upgrading health infrastructure, improving the welfare of health personnel, and prioritizing healthcare as a key pillar of governance.
According to Dr. Oseghale, the Governor’s investments have brought renewed hope to public health institutions and have positioned Edo State as a leader in advancing clinical practice through strategic partnerships.
The Deputy Governor, His Excellency Hon. Dennis Idahosa, who represented the Governor at the event, received the Award on his behalf and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to continued collaboration with the medical profession to achieve better health outcomes for Edo people.
The event was attended by Chief Medical Directors of tertiary hospitals, medical elders, business leaders, and members of the Association.
