NYSC issues fresh warning to prospective corps members ahead of orientation camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released new guidelines for prospective corps members preparing for the upcoming orientation camp, urging them to avoid travelling at night and ensure all required documents are in order before reporting to camp.

The fresh advisory, shared on the scheme’s official X account on Monday, highlights several requirements that must be met to ensure a smooth registration process. The announcement has drawn attention from prospective corps members as they prepare for mobilisation.

According to the scheme, anyone whose graduation date on their call-up letter does not match the date on their statement of result will not be allowed to register at the orientation camp.

NYSC outlines key registration requirements

In its advisory, the scheme stated, “Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp.”

The NYSC also warned, “Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call-up letters and the date on their statement of results will not be registered in the orientation camp.”

To avoid registration issues, the scheme directed affected candidates to resolve any discrepancies through their Student Affairs Officers before reporting to camp.

It further reminded prospective corps members to print, sign and submit their registration forms during camp registration.

Date of birth correction process explained

The scheme also provided guidance for candidates seeking to correct their dates of birth.

According to the advisory, applicants should obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN, log into their NYSC dashboard and complete the correction process by selecting the appropriate examination details before submitting their request.

The latest guidelines are expected to help prospective corps members complete registration without unnecessary delays while ensuring compliance with the scheme’s documentation and safety requirements.
