Raymond Ozoji

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Special Adviser on Youth Reformation, Dr. Nelson Obinna Omenugha, has embarked on inter-agency consultations to seek collaborations for the youth reformation agenda of the state.

Omenugha who embarked on courtesy visits to the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and Permanent Secretary of the Government House cum Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, stressed the dire need for such synergy in order to realize the reformation objectives which he said entailed rehabilitation and reintegration.

He therefore explored areas of collaboration to deepen social reformation and strengthen the state’s value system. According to him, one key area of focus was the deliberate reformation of young persons in correctional centres, empowering them to return to society as ambassadors who will speak against the very crimes for which they were convicted.

The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke SAN, who described Omenugha’s youth reformation initiative as laudable, noted that the youth reformation agenda is both timely and necessary. Nweke added that justice system must not only punish wrongdoing but also create pathways for rehabilitation, restoration, and responsible reintegration into society.

He therefore assured Omenugha of the full support of the Ministry of Justice in identifying practical areas of collaboration, particularly within the correctional and justice institutions, adding that young people who have made mistakes could be given a genuine second chance and empower them to become advocates for lawful and responsible living.

Also the Permanent Secretary of the Anambra State Government House, who equally functions as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, noted that the vision of His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, to build a livable and prosperous Anambra must be anchored on a generation of disciplined, productive, and value-driven young people.

Nwankwo maintained that the Youth Reformation Agenda provides a practical framework to achieve the objective, stressing that as a public service institution, they are committed to supporting initiatives that can be deployed through the communities and local government structures even as he commended Dr. Nelson Omenugha for driving the assignment with passion and looked forward to strong inter-agency collaboration that will translate the vision into measurable impact across Anambra State.
