Bayern Munich Sporting Director, Max Eberl, has reacted to Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal’s comments regarding the Ballon d’Or.
Yamal had campaigned for himself, insisting that he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of other contenders, including Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
Reacting, Eberl told Sky Sports, “There has to be some campaigning, after all.
“The best players are the ones who don’t need to run a campaign.”
Yamal was among the 30 players shortlisted for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, and the winner will be announced next month.
