Osun APC Alleges Plot to Arrest NURTW Executives

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday alleged that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to arrest the newly sworn-in state and local government executives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The party, in a press release signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, claimed the plan involves procuring a court order in Osogbo to remand the union leaders.

According to the party, the alleged move is based on charges filed by the Adeleke administration which it described as “politically-motivated.”

The APC said instead of serving the affected persons personally, the government was seeking an order for substituted service by publication to pave the way for an arrest and remand.

“The leaked information has revealed a surreptitious plan by Governor Adeleke and the Accord Party to procure a warrant of arrest against some newly-inaugurated executives of the NURTW, the Osun State Chapter,” the statement read.

The APC further alleged that a meeting was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Osogbo involving the said judge, Accord Party chieftains, and other members to perfect the arrangement. It said the matter has been slated for hearing on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The party also linked the alleged plot to comments made by Governor Adeleke at a rally in Osogbo on Monday, where he reasserted himself as the Chief Security Officer of the state and criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

“With this development, it is now crystal clear that it is the state Governor Adeleke, the supposed and self-acclaimed state CSO of the state and the Accord Party that are planning to disturb the public peace in the state, few days to the governorship election,” Olabisi said.

The APC called on the Osun State Judiciary to resist being used to victimise the real and perceived political opponents of the incumbent administration, noting that court vacation is ongoing and questioning the rush if the charges were genuine.

“We are enjoining the Osun State Judiciary to be wary of the desperate and rejected political gladiators who are hell-bent on riding roughshod over the noble and respectable calling for using the judicial officer as an instrument to victimise,” the statement added.
