Osun Environment Commissioner Arrested On IGP’s Order – Imole Campaign Council

The Imole Campaign Council has alleg do that some men believed to be police operatives acting on the orders of the Inspector General of Police have arrested the Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin.

Adejoorin, who is also a leader of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign in Obokun Local Government, was reportedly blocked while driving out of Ilesa and worked away.

According to a Facebook post by the spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Commissioner’s driver and security personnel were humiliated before he was taken away. No offence was disclosed to him at the time of arrest, the statement claimed.

Olajengbesi condemned the arrest and called on the IGP to immediately stop what he described as “senseless arrests and alleged abductions of innocent people in Osun State.”

“This abuse of power, intimidation and harassment of citizens must stop immediately. Enough is enough!” the statement added.

As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Police Command and the Force Headquarters had not issued an official statement on the incident

Efforts to get the reaction of the police were unsuccessful as of press time.
