Pained Residents Plant JuJu On Cape Coast—Takoradi Dualization Projects To Scare Contractors After Their Properties Got Demolished
Workers on a section of the Cape Coast–Takoradi road dualization project arrived at their work site this morning to find a banner containing juju items stretched across the road on poles at Yabiw junction, halting activity for the day.
According to the account, the workers parked their trucks and paused operations, awaiting the arrival of relevant authorities to address the situation.
It is suspected that the development may be linked to dissatisfaction among some residents whose properties were demolished to pave way for the ongoing road project, though this has not been officially confirmed.
The Cape Coast–Takoradi dualization project, part of government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative, has previously required the demolition of structures and relocation of traders along parts of its route, a process that has drawn appeals and concerns from affected persons in some communities.
No official statement has yet been issued by the project contractors or local authorities regarding the incident at Yabiw junction.
